SEG Format

Data types

SEG (Society of Exploration Geophysicists) is a format used in seismic reflection.

There are different SEG formats:

  • SEG-Y

The SEG-Y format is used in reflection seismology for data that has been processed to correct offset data in relation to a reference.

  • SEG-D

The SEG-D format is used in reflection seismology for unprocessed data (non repositioned)

  • SUBOP

The SUBOP format is the file format for sub-bottom profilers used in seismic reflection.
