This archiving interface overarches the HSM system. It enables the long-term archiving of data, by assigning domain-related keywords to an archive, which are sufficiently explicit (e.g.: name of the cruise, date of the cruise, vessel, etc.,) so that they can be found by the creator of the archive or by a set of people associated with this archive. This is a major difference in relation to the HSM. However the data archived via this interface is stored on the HSM system. This interface waits until the two copies have been made (i.e. copied to Ifremer's two archiving locations), to be sure that it is done so properly and to inform the archiver of its completion.
